OurDivorceAgreement.com®
is designed for use by active duty military
personnel. If your state requires military-specific
forms/information, we guide you on how to provide it.
Assuming
you have lived in your state for the residency period (usually 6
mos. but check for your state) you can file. If you
have questions about filing or residency requirements, we suggest
you check with the clerk of the divorce court in the county in
which you wish to file.
Here is a website with the web contacts of many
courts across the US. http://www.ncsconline.org/D_KIS/info_court_web_sites.html
You
can use
our site in one of two ways:
1)
With your purchase of the site, you get unlimited use of your
account. So, you can create a draft agreement and present it to
your spouse and once it is agreeable to both, you print out
everything, sign them and send them to the one who is stateside to
file.
2)
You can both go online to work on the site. If you have a
reasonably priced phone plan or an internet phone service, you can
even be on the site at the same time and talk about each category.
One just presses the selection and the other clicks
"refresh" to see what was posted. (Check our faq
once you login for details.)
You
can get everything you need to divorce on our site. The only
thing the fee does not include is your filing fee, which varies by
county. (contact your local clerk's office for family cases
to find out that fee.)
We
also have recently added the services of a process server, who can
file your papers with the court in person for $95.00, well worth
the service if neither of you can file in person.
FYI,
one divorces in the state of residence, not of the marriage.

OurDivorceAgreement.com®
is designed for use by divorcing couples who
are:
~ Basically Cooperative.
(Need not be in total agreement.)
~ Genuinely interested in reaching a
quick, inexpensive agreement on the terms of divorce.
~ Able to follow basic written instructions and
independently complete online forms.
~ Wish to do as much as possible to complete their
own divorce.
*
Note: (We have had many individuals
successfully use the site to create a proposal to use to
begin the discussion of the divorce with their spouse.
And because you have unlimited use of the site, you can keep
coming back to the site to make changes to your document
until you reach agreement.)
We do not recommend the use of
the site when the following are present:
~ Presence of domestic violence or physical threats.
~ High conflict, verbal abuse.
~ Not able to independently complete online forms.
~Want to have someone else (attorneys) handle
all/most details of the terms of divorce.
It's
been said that, "there's no such thing as an easy
divorce." We agree. Even though we have
created this site to ease the financial and emotional pain
of divorce, we recognize that the decision to divorce and
the consequences for families going through are never easy.
We are continuously updating our list of resources for
divorcing families. You may view these services on our
links page. |
